BACKGROUND:
Adrien Agreste
Plagg
Kwami
Miraculouses

Adrien's world is like our own. Technology appears to be the same or similar in it's capabilities and history played out similarly as far as the viewer knows, though the version of Paris in Adrien's world is slightly different, with buildings moved around or added to places where they don't exist in the real world. The key difference between Adrien's world and our own is the existence of the Miraculous. There are seven that we know of, each one magic and the home to a quantic god known as a Kwami. Each Miraculous and its Kwami are based on various animals: the ladybug, black cat, butterfly, turtle, peacock, fox, and bee. Of the seven, the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses are the yin and yang of the set, making them the most powerful. They are also the two most common heroes through the ages.

The Miraculous and their Kwami have existed since Ancient China and have helped human-kind by forming a bond with a hero throughout the ages. To give an example, Hercules was one such Miraculous holder (suggesting he actually existed in Adrien's world and is not simply a mythical figure). The Miraculous are always meant to be heroes, never villains. This, however, changed when someone got their hands on the Butterfly Miraculous, Nooroo. Since gaining this Miraculous, the user, calling himself Le Papillon (or Hawk Moth in the English dub) has been using it create to villains in order to get his hands on the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses. With the two he could gain the power of balance, the power of a god. He could create and destroy anything he desired. His true reason for wanting this power has yet to be revealed, however.

In the past, the Butterfly Miraculous was used to grant hero-like abilities to others as well as sense emotions. Le Papillon, however, has twisted the Miraculous' purpose so that he senses negative emotions. When the negative emotions are strong enough, he uses his abilities to infuse a butterfly with negative energy, turning it into an Akuma, before sending it after his target. These Akuma are single-minded in finding their target and cannot be stopped by normal means. Once the Akuma has found its target it infects something the target is holding, connects them to Le Papillon, and grants them superpowers that rival those of a single Miraculous holder. Through the Akuma, Le Papillon is connected to an Akumized victim and can exert control, if desired, and take away the abilities if the target doesn't cooperate.

Little has yet to be revealed about Adrien's early life. He's the son of Gabriel Agreste, a famous fashion designer, and a yet to be named woman who disappeared. For the moment, the details of how and why she vanished have yet to be revealed but the photos on Adrien's phone suggest she disappeared fairly recently. Though he rarely shows it, her disappearance affected not only him, but also turned his father, an already over-protective man, into someone controlling yet cold and distant. He's become focused on his work leaving Adrien in the care of a bodyguard and his assistant, Nathalie. Every aspect of Adrien's day is carefully planned out in advance: homeschool, fencing, Chinese, piano lessons, and modeling his father's clothing line.

Adrien's story doesn't truly begin until the day he decides he's done being alone and wants to attend school like other kids his age. He sneaks out of the house and manages to make it all the way to Collège Françoise Dupont, the same school his childhood friend Chloé Bourgeois attends. The sound of an old man struggling to stand up on the sidewalk catches his attention. He runs over to help, but in the process is caught by Nathalie and his bodyguard, who take him back to the Agreste Manor.

Later, while taking a break from his studies a large stone creature begins terrorizing the Paris. He turns on the new to find out what's going, on only to discover a mysterious hexagonal container on the coffee table in front of his television. Upon opening the container, a small black creature pops out and introduces itself as Plagg before trying to eat everything in sight. It's only after Adrien manages to catch Plagg that he explains that he is a Kwami and that he, along with the ring, will grant Adrien the power to be a hero and stop the creature, dubbed Stoneheart. However, before Plagg can finish explaining all of the details, Adrien puts on the ring and transforms. Before tracking down Stonheart, he gives his powers a test run, during which he has a somewhat awkward literal run-in with Ladybug.

The two track down Stoneheart, although Ladybug is reluctant to fight until she realizes Chat Noir needs her help. During the fight, Chat Noir shows off and realizes his special Cataclysm ability can only be used once. Ladybug chastises him, telling him he only has about five minutes before he'll change back. She also explains that in order to defeat Stoneheart they need to find what it is that has been possessed by an Akuma and destroy it. Using Ladybug's Lucky Charm, an ability that creates a random item that can be used in the situation, the two deal with Stoneheart, who turns back into Ivan (a student from Collège Françoise Dupont), and appear to save the day.

However, because they didn't capture the Akuma, it quickly multiplies and possesses more people, turning them into immobile copies of Stoneheart. But without the original Akuma showing itself the two new heroes can't do anything to save the people turned into copies. In the meantime, Adrien makes another attempt to attend school by sneaking out of the house with Plagg. Nathalie and the bodyguard catch up to Adrien outside the school, where Nathalie asks him to return home. Adrien asks her to claim they didn't make it in time to stop him. Nathalie doesn't appear happy with this, but lets Adrien go.

He's greeted by Chloè, who shows him to their classroom where he catches Sabrina, Chloè's only other friend, putting gum on Marinette and Alya's seat. As he's trying to peel the gum off Marinette enters the room and catches him, believing him to be the culprit. He tries to explain but she won't hear it since he's a friend of Chloe's, who has been bullying her for years. He lets the issue drop and settles into his seat next to Nino. The other boy asks him why he didn't tell Marinette the truth and he explains it's because while he knows Chloè is a bully she's also his only friend, and he doesn't want to tell on her. Nino tells him it's time to make new friends and properly introduces himself.

Unfortunately, Stoneheart appears again because Chloè made fun of Ivan for turning into a monster, cutting Adrien's first day of school short. Stoneheart kidnaps Chloè during his rampage while Adrien quickly finds a place to transform into Chat Noir before chasing after the villain. He's unable to do much against the Akumized villain on his own, however and is quickly captured by Stoneheart. Luckily for him, Marinette realizes she cant give up on being Ladybug and quickly saves him.

The duo chases Stoneheart to the Eiffel Tower where, after throwing a previously kidnapped Chloè down at the police, it spits out hundreds of Akuma. The Akuma form a face which declares itself as Le Papillon and says he wants Chat Noir's and Ladybug's Miraculouses and won't stop until he gets them. He tries to turn all of Paris against the two heroes in doing so, but Ladybug stands up to the image and tells him she won't allow him to keep hurting people, and will keep hunting him until she gets his Miraculous. She then promptly launches herself at the cloud of Akuma and captures them all before declaring that she and Chat Noir will do everything in their power to help the people of Paris. This sudden bravery and show of power, from someone who was previously so unsure of being a hero, causes Chat Noir to realizes he's fallen for her. Stoneheart gets back up, but this time the duo knows what they're doing. They defeat Stoneheart, capture the Akuma, and save the day.

Adrien's life takes on a new turn with his father agreeing to allow him to attend school, as long as he's chauffeured by his bodyguard. This time he manages to finish a whole day without any villains attacking the city. By the end of the day, he takes finally Nino's advice and explains to Marinette that he really was trying to remove the gum. He explains that he's never had friends or gone to school before and was too nervous to explain the situation before.

From this point on Adrien's life takes on a new sort of normal with school, his extracurricular, and patrolling for Akuma as Chat Noir. He regularly works together with Ladybug to protect the city and tries to balance the normal life of a teenager. Somehow he manages to balance it all and not be late to everything.

An undetermined period later, he discovers an old book in his father's possession that has information on various Miraculous holders. He watches his father lock the book away in a safe behind a portrait of Adrien's mother and briefly thinks about stealing it. He decides against it only for to Plagg fly into the safe and unlock it. Adrien flips through the book and finds information on a Chat Noir from ancient China. Plagg remakes that the book looks familiar, but is too hungry to think about it. Adrien is alerted to the sound someone coming and debates on putting the book back and keeping it, but in the end, he closes the safe and stuffs the book into his bag.

At school, he's quickly greeted by a new transfer student from Italy: Lila. The two spend some study time in the library, but Adrien is curious about the book and decides to take closer look. Lila immediately takes interest in it, although Adrien insists it's just some silly encyclopedia of heroes. She notes Ladybug is in the book, resulting in Adrien sighing and staring off dreamily as he remarks about how she's so fascinating. Lila, jealous of this, says that a girl doesn't need to wear a suit to be fascinating. Adrien grows flustered while Lila continues on about how she and Ladybug are close friends. Before anything else can be said, the two are interrupted and Adrien realizes he's going to be late to fencing. Before he can leave, Lila knocks over his bag and steals the book.

After fencing he meets Lila in the park, who now has a necklace that looks like the one the hero Volpina had. She tells Adrien about how Ladybug saved her life and that the two share the same secret. She claims that she's a descendant of the fox superheroine, Volpina. Adrien recognizes the name and starts to open his bag to get the book, but she stops him and continues on about Volpina. It isn't much longer after that that Ladybug drops in and tells Lila off for the liar she is. Reasonably upset by this Lila, runs off and Adrien asks Ladybug why she would upset someone like that. She explains it's because she doesn't like lies, especially when they're about her, before rushes off. Leaving Adrien to watch her retreat in confusion.

Moments later, a giant flaming meteorite appears and looks like it's going to crash into Paris. Adrien transforms into Chat Noir and makes his way toward the meteorite with the intent to destroy it but, is cut short by what appears to be a new heroine. Once the meteorite is dealt with, the new heroine introduces herself as Volpina, Ladybug find it suspicious, but Chat Noir thinks she's awesome and strong. Things don't stop there, however. Volpina informs the duo that Le Papillon has appeared and they needed to quickly deal with him. Volpina flirts with Chat Noir a bit, which only seems to increase Ladybug's irritation. Chat Noir remakes that Ladybug is acting strange, but lets it drop after that and chases after Le Papillon.

As it turns out Volpina is Lila, who has been Akumized. Ladybug is the first to realize it, and also figures out that Volpina's true ability is illusions. She quickly calls up Chat Noir and lets him know that Volpina will be going after Adrien. Chat Noir quickly rushes back home and transforms back into Adrien, just in time for Volpina to appear. She tells Adrien who she really is, trying to show him she's not a liar like Ladybug claims. Ladybug shows up that point and tells Adrien to hide while she deals with Volpina, giving Adrien the chance to transform back. Volpina rushes off with an illusion of Adrien in tow, which Ladybug believes it to be the real Adrien. Chat Noir tries to assure her it's just an illusion, but she won't hear it. so the two rush after Volpina and catch up with her at the Eiffle Tower. They manage to trap Volpina and free her of the Akuma, after which Ladybug tries to apologize, only to have Lila angrily declare her her enemy before rushing off.

With the Akuma dealt with, Ladybug realizes she needs to check on Adrien. Chat Noir tries to assure her he's probably safe at home and tries to stop her from going, but Ladybug is stubborn and rushes off. Despite her head start, Adrien manages to make it back home just before her and slips into the bathroom where he turns on the shower. He convinces Ladybug that he's all right and just taking a shower, which she accepts and leaves. With all the excitement dealt with, Adrien returns to his room and begins tearing it apart in an attempt to find the missing book he took from his father.

PERSONALITY:
Adrien is a sweet, charming, friendly, and encouraging kid. But he's also very shy and unsure himself, this generally manifests as politeness toward others. He chooses his words carefully and rarely says anything rude to anyone. He generally goes along with what others want in order to not upset anyone. However, this doesn't mean he's a complete pushover, he will stand up for himself and others if he feels someone has gone too far. But how much he actually says depends on how comfortable he is. He's more likely to put on a smile and suffer in silence. He only confides in two people, Nino and Plagg (if he happens to be listening). Short of his secret identity as Chat Noir, Nino knows just about everything there is to know about Adrien.

Prior to attending Collège Françoise Dupont, he had no peers his own age with the exception of Chloè. Because of his sheltered life he doesn't exactly know how to deal with people his own age, especially girls. When it comes to Chloè he just lets her do as she wants most of the time. He was actually scared to tell her off, for fear of losing her as a friend, until he became friends with Nino. Marinette's awkward behaviour around him leaves him confused as to how to deal with the situation, although he continues to be friendly toward her. Most other girls idolize him because of his status as a somewhat famous model. The adults in his life often keep him at an arm's length, his mother being the only adult he was truly close to, making it just as difficult for him understand them. All this means he has a difficult time reading people and finds it especially difficult to know when someone is lying to him, as seen with Lila. Another example of his inability to read or properly pick up on certain emotions (especially from girls) is shown when Ladybug is jealous of Lila/Volpina. He simply comments that she's acting weird but doesn't seem to realize that she's jealous.

He does he best to the perfect child by doing anything he can to gain validation from the adults around him, especially his father. This means he's top of the class, he attends all the lessons his father sets up for him and is rarely late for them, and he continues to model despite not liking the attention he gains from it. Attending school may have been the first big decision Adrien truly made for himself, despite it going against what his father wants for him.

Being so stifled in his everyday life is why he loves being Chat Noir. Behind that mask he can do and say what he wants without repercussion to his family name. He can finally stop pretending to be the perfect child, finally grow and figure out who he really is. He can forget all his responsibilities and worries, and simply focus on being himself. He does, however, continue to seek validation in everything he does in order to determine what works and what doesn't. Unfortunately, Ladybug is the only person he has to give him any real feedback on how he acts. So he puts on a new persona by telling dumb jokes and puns, while continuously flirting with Ladybug. All for a reaction, whether good or bad, she always gives him one. He takes any good reaction he gets and rolls with it, while ceasing to do anything she particularly dislikes. Being a hero and saving Paris are just added benefits to donning the mask. You could say he's a hero for somewhat selfish reasons, for an escape and the freedom to finally figure out who he is when he's no longer in his father's shadow. It helps that he is also brave and desires to help others.

Some of that ridiculous persona he puts on as Chat Noir, particularly the aspects Ladybug likes, bleed over into Adrien's actions as a pun or a silly bow or dorky wink. He's slowly growing into himself, figuring out who he is through being a superhero.

All in all, Adrien/Chat Noir is very much the yin to Marinette/Ladybug's yang. He is quiet and reserved, where she is outgoing and loud. He is quite literally bad luck where she is good luck. He is destruction where she is creation. Because of this the two make the perfect team. It also helps that Adrien is hopelessly devoted to and in love with Ladybug. Unfortunately, all his bravado and relentless flirting does little to attract Ladybug's desire.

As for Plagg, well, Plagg is very much like a cat. He is selfish, complains a lot, and is lazy and unhelpful. He'd rather spend all his time eating cheese and sleeping. He's even gone as far as to hide from Adrien in order to avoid doing anything. He often has to be bribed into helping, usually with extra cheese. More than once he has tried to convince Adrien to just let Ladybug deal with things and let those Akumized villains do their thing, but only if they weren't really hurting anyone (as seen in The Bubbler when Nino was Akumized but throwing a birthday party for Adrien). He also often teases Adrien about his crush on Ladybug, while at the same time he's grossed out by it. He can be a magnet for trouble, although much of that trouble he brings upon himself. Despite his often flippant attitude toward Adrien he does care about him, in his own weird way. He doesn't often show it but he clearly feels bad for Adrien and his situation with his father as well as the loss of his mother. Aside from his near obsession with Camembert cheese he likes shiny objects.

POWER:
As a civilian, Adrien has no special powers. He is, however, excellent at fencing and does martial arts, he is fluent in Chinese, great at video games, and plays the piano. He's a smart kid, with physics being his favourite subject.

However, with the use of a magic ring (Miraculous) and Plagg he becomes a hero.

Cat Miraculous – a magic ring with a special gem embedded in it that houses a spirit named Plagg. Each Miraculous is tied to a particular Kwami and grants the user abilities based on that Kwami. Think of the Miraculous like Tony Stark's powers suit only with a lot of magic involved. Without the ring Adrien is a normal human, but when he tells Plagg to transform him he becomes Chat Noir and gains the fairly standard superhero power of enhanced condition. He also gains a couple of powers that are unique to the Cat Miraculous; Cataclysm and a magic baton/staff.

Adrien's enhanced condition is limited to his strength, speed, agility, durability, sense of smell, hearing, and grants him night vision. While the limits of these abilities have not been show, we've seen him running along walls, leaping from building to building, lifting objects a normal person couldn't (sometimes with the use of his staff as a lever), barely dodging an attack that would take down others, and has even been thrown half-way across Paris without a scratch on him.

The Cataclysm ability is a manifestation of the Miraculous' yin alignment. When this ability is invoked, Chat's right hand fills with negative (bad luck) energy that can then be used to cause destruction, malfunctions, or weaken whatever he touches. Material like rocks and metal are weakened enough that they can easily be broken, while wood and fabric typically dissolve entirely, and any electronic devices will malfunction. There is a drawback to this ability, however, it can only be used once per transformation, as using it drains Plagg's energy. After using Cataclysm Adrien has about five minutes before he reverts back to a civilian. He can't transform back into Chat Noir until Plagg has eaten and regained some energy. Needless to say, this is an ability that he needs to use at the right time or he could find himself in trouble. His ring indicates how long he has before transforming through the use of a paw graphic. The ring will beep and one part of the paw will disappear until nothing is left and Plagg leaves the ring.

Adrien's Miraculous transformation also grants him a nearly indestructible baton/staff that can shrink down to about a foot in length, and has seemingly unlimited extending capabilities. The staff can be broken into two parts, and act similarly to a boomerang. Additionally it appears to have a smart phone built into it that allow him to use the staff for video communication with Ladybug (and possibly other Miraculous holders, although that's simply speculation at this point). The staff's wifi capabilities can be used to search for people's addresses or to bring up building blueprints. When spun the staff can be used to slow his fall or be used as a shield. It seems to also be capable of sticking to surfaces, such as the side of buildings or the ground, in order to hold it steady enough to be used like a fireman's pole or a balance beam. The staff has been shown to produce tracking devices, on one occasion, while in another Chat used it like a spyglass. Basically it's like Batman's toolbelt, it can just about anything the situation calls for except capture Akuma (that is an ability reserved for Ladybug's yo-yo).

Plagg - a Kwami, that is a quantic kami (god). Plagg has existed for thousands of years, dating back to to the times of ancient China. Through the centuries, Plagg has worked with many heroes. Without the Miraculous and a user Plagg can't exist outside his ring, much like a genie and it's lamp. The ring can be removed and Plagg can still exist outside the ring but should he be denied by the Miraculous holder he'll vanish, much like Disney fairies losing their abilities if no one believes in them.

Plagg has a few abilities of his own that include flight, levitation, and becoming intangible. These abilities are designed to insure the Kwami remains a secret from the rest of the world. Plagg's true potential can not be unlocked without a hero, with a hero he can grant them various abilities through the use of the Miraculous. Kwami can become sick and require food in order to keep up their energy. In Plagg's case he loves cheese, particularly Camembert.

TL;DR Adrien is a magical boy and Plagg is his (very unhelpful) helper.

COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE:
[Prior to making this post, Adrien spent some time trying to decide how to go about making a post to this network. Carefully rehearsing what he wanted to say before he ensures that Plagg is going to remain out of frame for the duration of the recording. Luckily the Kwami is happy enough to stay busy stuffing himself with cheese as opposed to bothering Adrien while he makes a post.

In the end, however, he decides to simply post with text. It feels easier than forcing a smile while he talks to a bunch of strangers.

Hello. My name is Adrien Agreste. I'm new to this world, to this whole situation, and unsure of where to go from here. I've read over the pamphlet but it's only the tiniest bit helpful.

I expect you, the general imPort populace, get a lot of new people with similar questions and I'm just going to be adding to the heap. For that, I apologize. But I'm curious and if there's anyone who doesn't mind responding I'd be grateful.

1. What do you do if you come from a world in which superpowers are limited to comic books and you really have no interest in being a hero? Not that being a hero is a bad thing, or anything, it could be kind of cool, it's simply a skill set I do not possess.

2. Is registering worth it in the end? Why do you think it is or isn't depending on your stance?

3. Would it be better to attend this Xavier school rather than the school for the general populace?

4. Does anyone fence? Or does anyone know of any good fencing schools?

I suppose that's enough for now. Thank you for your responses.

FINAL NOTES:
It is very unlikely that Plagg will interact with anyone else in game unless given a reason as he's meant to be a secret.
